Still enjoying the game, although the more time I spend playing '09/'10, the more faults, ommissions and glitches I find.

For example, I will refer to Phillip Island, my home track. I have visted the circuit at least once a year since 1995 for the Oz round of the WSBK or MotoGP, so my knowledge of the track is pretty good.

It must be said that Monumental have done a fairly good job at recreating each track with little poetic licence. Riding around Phillip Island is fine until you hit Lukey Heights.

Lukey Heights, for those who don't know, is a fast left hand corner that rises into a blind crest where riders must brake hard downhill to negotiate a sharpish right hand "MG" corner. For those who watch SBK, the top of Lukey Heights is where James Toseland destroyed his R1 in race one this year.

In MotoGP '09/'10, Lukey Heights is completely flat! How Monumental overlooked this fact is beyond me & my questions have remained unanswered in all of their official forums.

Other issues include: a lack of split timing during all practice, qualifying and races, set-ups that don't load and are deleted once you change manufacturers.

I even found a fault in the game manual, where on page 10 it is stated twice that one cannot change bike settings during wildcard events in a career mode. Funny thing is you can and I have done so many times in 250cc wildcard rides during the 125cc career (played through the 125's twice).

Things like the above make me feel that Monumental are using '09/'10 as a beta for the next game.

Monumental are collecting the feedback but Lord knows what they are doing with it.

One XBL Addict forum member is going to the studio to talk with the dev team, seems a little too late for that once the game has been released!

A 7/10 is about right for this game on a generous day.

Cheers.

I'm probably not the best to comment on gaming...as I'm more your "casual gamer", however I am a bike enthusiast and I thoroughly enjoy the game. Most of the time just doing time trial trying to beat my best lap times, working on braking points, turning points etc.

I haven't really played in detail any other bike racing games to really compare apart from MotoGP 08, so my opinion is really just in comparison to that. (Mind you did have a bit of fun with the bikes on PGR4 lol)

I think having control of the different aspects of the Suspension, geometry, etc is a huge bonus it may well of been a placebo effect but I had found on one of the bikes the bike was reluctant to turn in, so I softened the front springs and shortened the wheelbase and voilą, better turn in. I really feel the game has come along way from the 08 release (of which I spent countless hours on as well).

I agree that the locking of the main riders and bikes is a bit of silly idea and some of the handling characteristics are a bit out of place but overall I enjoy the game-play, and would recommend it to any of my friends.

Cheers

Hey thanks Nath,

Yeah it's divided opinion though I have to admit SBK-X will probably be the game that grabs me the most, we should have more coverage on that soon.

Glad to read you really like the game Nathan!

You aren't alone in really enjoying '09/'10 as Console Monster gave the game an 85/100 & the guy who reviewed the game is a seasoned motorcycle rider and MotoGP fan, so that score has a bit of creedence in my view.

I too think '09/'10 is a solid start for Monumental, it's a good game with it's share of quirks and ommissions but I do enjoy it.

Cheers.

Good news MotoGP fans - the mid season 2010 DLC release is upon us

Steve Best from Monumental (the development team) has posted on the Capcom Europe forums that the DLC should arrive Monday UK time. A patch to allow gamers to modify the number of laps from 3 to real length and everything in between in preparation of the DLC has already been released.

Replaying the game really highlights how pretty the game is (when compared to SBK) and running at 60fps and how more agile and repsonsive the MotoGP bikes were made to be in comparison to the sluggish Milestone SBK machines.

Cheers.

The 2010 motoGP DLC has been out for a while now and has made a significant change to the gameplay as the bikes now handle more akin to a MotoGP machine. It should be noted that despite the change, MotoGP '09/'10 is still far from a simulation.

One MAJOR issue with the DLC is that the DLC corrupts the career save game

A fix is said to be in the works, news of this wasn't posted on the Capcom Europe forums but via an apology buried on Eurogamer and a confirmation within the XBL Addicts forums. News of a post DLC patch was posted some time later on the Capcom Europe forum.

I feel pity for Monumental, nearly everything that could have gone wrong has done so.

Anyone else in VVV Gamer land have MotoGP '09/'10 and tried the DLC pack?

Cheers.

One quick addendum to the above - the DLC works fine in time trial mode and the Silverstone circuit is excellent, both in looks and layout.
